My week 8 was spread out over a five day period from late July to early August. After coming up short in hours from the original schedule Coach Hill and I planned out for my internship, it was difficult to finish my 16 hours
due to scheduling conflicts. So, the five days I worked to finish my internship up was July 17th, 23rd and 24thand August 2nd and 3rd. Reason why it was so hard to finishing the final 16 hours was Coach Hill went on vacation, then I went on vacation in the early part of July and Coach Hill had to find some projects for me to do before set up the final days. I was just excited to be done with the internship and to start focusing on the beginning of the school year and graduation.
My first day back after two weeks off was July 17th. Coach Hill had me MapQuest all of his away opponents for the upcoming season. My next day was July 23rd and Coach had me fill out the game itineraries for
every game of the upcoming season. Then on July 24th I helped Assistant Coach Jerry Buccilla and Graduate Assistant John Joyce in a kid’s basketball camp. After those three days I only needed five hours to complete my
internship but Coach Hill was going out of town for a few days, so we decided to finish my internship on August 2nd and 3rd. August 2ndCoach Hill had me reorganize the Development Offices basement, though not very exciting or educational it did get me 2.5 hours. Then on my final day August 3rdhe had me make a new player’s profile, so that all of his players can fill them out for the beginning of the new season. Finally my internship was done and though it was not what I expected and I did not learn as much as I would have liked, I see the behind the scenes of a college basketball program and what I did learn will help me when I graduate.
